Militzer & Münch in Russia: Project logistics booming

St. Gallen / Moscow, November 16, 2011. Militzer & Münch, the internationally operating transport logistics company, is on a growth path with its project logistics in Russia: ZAO Militzer & Münch, the Russian country unit headquartered in Moscow, reports that, as compared to the 2010 figures, the project logistics business will account for more than 12 % of the total turnover this year – more than twice as much as last year.

This development is the result of an enormous boom on the Russian logistics market. The oil and gas sector especially saw a huge rise in Russia in 2011 – and this is where project logistics plays a decisive role.

Through rough terrain, for oil and gas
Project logistics is no child’s play in Russia, the world’s largest state by area: Special geographical features, lacking infra-structure, and extreme temperatures require individual solutions for each situation – often, improvisation is asked for. Just recently, ZAO Militzer & Münch did a heavy lift transport under extreme conditions: At temperatures of 40 C below zero, the Militzer & Münch team brought technical equipment and machines from the Czech Republic to the natural gas production sites in the Yugra Region near Yekaterinburg – through rough terrain, on time. Using special equipment, ZAO Militzer & Münch also delivered technical equipment from Italy across the Black Sea and through a Russian mountain range directly to the building site, where the cargo was unloaded with a 200-ton crane.

More growth is expected
Project logistics is not only booming in the oil and gas sectors. There are investments to be expected in other economic sectors like the automobile and steel industries, agriculture and wood processing. And preparations for the Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi, where ZAO Militzer & Münch is also involved, are already under way. In this, as in many upcoming projects, the Militzer & Münch team profits from its competence in heavy lift transportation. The Russian country unit also comprises potent road, air, and sea departments, and offers all-in customs services, complete 3 PL solutions, as well as the classical forwarding services such as groupage transports and rail freight.

“We are a diversified company, and will further develop our project logistics segment over the next few years”, says Marina Dshegrij, Managing Director ZAO Militzer & Münch: “We’ve already taken on additional experts for our projects department.”
